The purpose of judicial conferences is to provide a platform for judges and legal professionals to come together, share knowledge, exchange insights, and engage in discussions on various aspects of the legal system, jurisprudence, and judicial practices. These conferences serve multiple purposes that contribute to the growth and development of the judicial community:
1. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits – generally 22-25 CLE hours per course
2. Ethics and Professionalism – generally 2+ hours per conference
3. Skill Enhancement
4. Discussion of Current Legal Issues
5. Exposure to Diverse Perspectives
6. Inspiration and Motivation (Pursuit of Excellence)

These conferences serve multiple purposes that contribute to the growth and development of the judicial community:

Who are the target attendees for these conferences?
Our conferences are designed for judges but non judge attorneys may attend and earn CLE.
How often are these conferences held?
Currently AIJ offers 3 week long conferences each year.
What is the average class size?
25 participants.
Are participants required to talk?
We encourage discussions but if you prefer not to speak in a group setting just let us know and we will discreetly pass the information on to the conference instructors. We want to foster a comfortable learning environment for all of our participants.
How can I receive information about your annual meetings?

Registration and Attendance:
How do I register for a conference?
- Click here for the conference registration link.
- Complete the conference registration form and click submit – Once I receive your completed conference registration form, I will email you a registration confirmation which will include a tentative course agenda, invoice, and instructions on making your hotel reservation in our room block.
- Make your hotel reservations in our room block as instructed per the email – Our room blocks can fill quickly, so confirm your room reservation before making travel arrangements. You are encouraged but not required to stay at our conference hotel.
- Make your travel arrangements
- Pay for conference – Payment is due anytime before the conference or at the door. Sorry but we do not accept credit cards. The registration fee does not include lodging or travel.
- Attend conference – Learn and interact with judges throughout the country at a pleasurable venue.
- File CLE/CJE (optional) – You will earn 22-25 hours of CLE/CJE credits per course. Participants will file their CLE using the Uniform Certificate of Attendance, agenda, course description, and faculty bios which are provided in your conference materials. AIJ will file CLE for participants from LA and OH.

Should I book my hotel prior to registering?
No, please register first. After registering, AIJ will give you instructions for booking your hotel in our block.
Is there a registration fee? What does it cover?
$1,300 per individual per conference. Social Hour, lunches on Monday & Tuesday, daily AM breaks are included for participants.
Is the Social Hour mandatory?
No, it is optional. Feel free to bring a +1 to the Social.
Is there a deadline for registration?
No but you are encouraged to register once your funding is approved as our room blocks fill quickly.
Can a non-judge attorney attend and receive CLE credits?
Yes. Although our conferences are designed from the perspective of a judge, non-judge attorneys may attend and earn CLE.
Why do you ask for my mobile number on the registration form?
Although not required, we request your mobile number only for efficient communication, particularly during the conference. Rest assured that we have a strict policy of not selling or sharing your number with any third parties. Your privacy and convenience are of utmost importance to us.
Conference Logistics:
Is there a recommended dress code?
Business casual all week. Dress for comfort. Polo shirts, khaki shorts, knee-length skirts, dresses, and sandals are acceptable.
Are accommodations provided or recommended for attendees?
Travel and hotel rooms are not included in the conference fee but a limited block of rooms will be available to attendees at a reduced rate after registering.
Are participants required to stay in the conference hotel?
No. For convenience, participants are encouraged to stay in the conference hotel but it is not required. If you choose to stay in a different location then please let us know that you have other accommodations as your name will not appear in our hotel room block. We want to make sure all participants have accommodations.
Is transportation provided from the airport to the conference hotel?
No. Most attendees get rental cars. Others use carpool, Uber/Lyft, taxi, or public transit. In some instances an AIJ staff member can provide transportation free of charge.

Can I view agendas in advance to get an idea of the time schedule and topics?
Yes. Agendas can be viewed under the Conferences tab. Each conference has a section titled Tentative Agenda with a button titled Printable Agenda.
What type of conference format should I expect?
Lecture with PowerPoint visuals and lots of discussions. Occasional breakout or group exercises.
Who are the speakers and presenters?
Click here for a list of our active faculty. AIJ has nationally recognized faculty, many who speak for at law schools, or other judicial organizations such as the National Judicial College, the American Judges Association, etc.
Can I suggest topics or speakers for future conferences?
Yes, we always value participants’ input. Please contact us with your suggestions.
Will there be networking opportunities with fellow judges?
Absolutely. You will be around judges from various states the entire week.
Continuing Education and Accreditation:
How many CLE and Ethics hours should I expect?
You will earn 22-25 hours of CLE/CJE credits per course with at least 2 hours of Ethics.
How do I obtain CLE credits?
Most participants will file individually using the Uniform Certificate of Attendance, agenda, course description, and faculty bios which are provided to you at the conference. AIJ will file CLE for participants from LA and OH.
Cancellation and Refund Policy:
What is the policy for canceling my registration?
Email us saying that you need to cancel.

What is your refund policy?
100% refund if we are notified at least 60 days prior to the beginning of the conference. $100 fee will be charged if you cancel within 60 days prior to the start of the conference and $200 fee if you cancel within 48 hours of conference or fail to cancel. Hotel cancellation policies are independent of AIJ.
Can I transfer my registration to another AIJ conference if I’m unable to attend?
Yes but we ask that you let us know asap.
Can I transfer my registration to a colleague if I'm unable to attend?
Yes, just give us your instructions to transfer your payment and hotel reservation to your colleague.
What payment methods are accepted for conference registration?
Checks in advance. Check or cash at the door.
Can I receive a receipt for my payment?
Yes, upon request.

Participants will receive evaluation forms at each conference. You may also contact us anytime with questions, suggestions, or comments. We value your input.
